Intelligent operation models of railway systems

The researcher will participate in development projects, research and studies related to new efficient traction technologies and train operation. Specifically, these projects focus on improving energy efficiency and service quality (frequencies and punctuality), including new traction technologies such as hydrogen cell-based traction and intelligent traffic control and management systems. This work will be carried out in close collaboration with companies in the railway sector such as: operating companies, train manufacturing companies and companies dedicated to signalling and systems production. Thanks to the work carried out, the researcher will acquire and put into practice knowledge related to new traction technologies, railway traffic planning and regulation, automatic train driving and transport capacity. To carry out this work, detailed traction and train movement simulators will be used and developed, and artificial intelligence and optimization techniques will be applied.

Requirements

The candidate must have a PhD degree in engineering and scientific publications in the area of the research to be developed (intelligent train operation models). Knowledge and experience in model development and computer tools will be an asset. Advanced level of English and Spanish.

What do we offer?

Contract for two years, renewable annually. The salary amounts to 33,837.59 € for the year 2022. The researcher will be able to enjoy the services offered by the University to its staff (Sports, Cultural Activities, Library, etc.).
