Island power systems are especially sensitive to active power imbalances. Underfrequency load-shedding (UFLS) schemes are a last-resort tool to protect island power systems by disconnecting load in a controlled manner. The UFLS schemes disconnects loads in predefined steps in function of the frequency deviation, the ROCOF, and/or the frequency stability margin (FSM). This projects aims at optimizing the frequency, ROCOF and/or FSM parameters to minimize the amount of shed load.
