REQUIREMENTS FOR POWER SYSTEM STABILIZER TUNING

Power-system electromechanical oscillations are of great concern in many power systems as power exchanges have increased due to the integration of power markets. The European Network Code on requirements for grid connection of generators has imposed that the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) shall include a Power System Stabilizer (PSS) as a function to attenuate power oscillations. The objective of the master thesis will be the development of a set of requirements for PSS-tuning that the TSO can issue to power producers in order to guide them in such a process. The method will be developed under the Small-Signal Stability Toolbox using synthetic models and then validated in a large-scale power-system model using EUROSTA/SMAS3 platform.
