Quantification of Costs and Benefits of Power System Flexibility Provision from Distributed Energ Resources (DER) for Balancing and Congestion Management in Europe

The integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) is transforming the power system landscape by introducing decentralized generation and increasing system variability. This paradigm shift poses new challenges in terms of balancing supply and demand and managing congestion on the grid. This master's thesis proposal seeks to quantitatively assess published costs and benefits of using DER as a flexibility resource to address these challenges, while also comparing these solutions to traditional approaches like grid expansion in the European context.
