Towards an operational understanding of transport poverty in Spain: applying accesibility indicators based on mobility big-data

Defining transport poverty is not an easy task. Broadly speaking, we can say that transport poverty is the inability of a household or an individual to meet their mobility needs, either due to a lack of access to transport facilities or due to a lack of economic capacity to cover the associated costs. Whereas a larger literature exists on affordability indicators, this TFM aims to analyse the problem in Spain focusing on the accesibility, thus contributing to build a comprehensive approach to transport poverty. The TFM should propose a robust methodology to measure this reality in our country and to calculate some preliminary indicators. In this way, it seeks to contribute to ensuring that the energy transition in which we are immersed, and in which transport plays a fundamental role, is carried out in a fair manner, that is to say, without leaving anyone behind.
