Market power exercise in the interaction between electricity distribution system operators and third-party flexibility providers

Electricity distribution system operators (DSO) could enhance the network´s overall performance by adopting solutions that combine their flexibility resources, such as distribution network reconfiguration (DNR), with the procurement of flexibility from third parties via a local flexibility market (LFM). However, it is crucial to explore strategies for mitigating market manipulation and ensuring fair competition within the DNR-LFM interaction. Therefore, this project aims to formulate and program a mathematical model for analyzing how market power exerted by service providers with significant market share or strategic network locations can be minimized by implementing a DNR-LFM solution.
