The EU renewable energy financing mechanism from a host project perspective - an approach through an academic case study

The objectives of this master thesis project follow: - To describe REFM and similar mechanisms that are discussed today in the electricity sector, as well as the international experience there is implementing similar mechanisms. - To analyze how the allocation of the statistical transfers of the mechanism could affect the deployment of RES in hosting countries. - To develop an academic case study (simulating the electricity market of a country) to propose a methodology to identify propitious scenarios for a host to participate in the REFM, where investment, price, and welfare of the REFM could be analyzed in detail. - To identify through the study of different cases and scenarios propitious strategies for a host to participate in the REFM. - To draw conclusions derived from the numerical results.
