Biography:
Carlos Andrés obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (2009- Medellín-Colombia), then his Master of Science in Engineering at the University of Antioquia (2014). In 2018 he obtained a PhD in Engineering from the University of Antioquia. He has more than 20 years of experience in the electrical sector. Initially in the development of Generation and Substation projects, later as a project development engineer in energy distribution networks and in Technical-Administrative Management Areas of Empresas Publicas de Medellín (EPM). Currently, he is Project Manager in the Energy Transmission and Distribution Planning of Empresas Publicas de Medellín, where he leads the Optimal Distribution Planning project. Additionally, he is part-time professor at the National University of Colombia, Medellín campus, in the Department of Organizational Engineering of the Faculty of Mines. His research projects have focused on technical-economic planning and regulation of Energy Transmission and Distribution Businesses, in addition to the application of optimization and AI techniques to the processes of companies in the electricity sector, as well as technical-financial planning.
