Biography:

Javier Rico obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Energy Engineering from the School of Industrial Engineering at the University of Málaga. A year and a half later, in 2019, he also earned an Interuniversity Master's Degree in Industrial Mathematics from the Carlos III University of Madrid.

His Master's thesis marked the beginning of his doctoral dissertation in the Department of Fluid Mechanics and Aerospace Propulsion at the School of Aeronautical Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

His thesis focused on studying the interaction between geothermal boreholes and groundwater flows. For this task, he employed applied mathematics techniques related to partial differential equations and matched asymptotic expansion techniques, which have traditionally been used in the fields of aeronautics and fluid mechanics, as well as numerical analysis and modeling in heat transfer problems.

Areas of interest:

Perturbation methods, numerical modelling and analysis, fluid dynamics and computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer and renewable energy.
