Biography:

Assistant Professor Eduardo C. Garrido Merchán studied at the Pontifical University of Comillas, where he graduated with an extraordinary prize in his class in Computer Engineering. Master in Artificial Intelligence from the Polytechnic University of Madrid with the José Cuena Award. Doctor Cum Laude in Computer and Telecommunications Engineering from the Machine Learning group of the Autonomous University of Madrid in his doctoral thesis on Bayesian Optimization.

Researches new methods and applications of Bayesian optimization and reinforcement learning. Recently, he also investigates a fair approach to AI and social networks to mitigate the oppression of this structure towards vulnerable groups and ethical methodologies for AI with the aim of making the algorithms and models of this field more inclusive and egalitarian.

In 2021, he began teaching at the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences of the Universidad Pontificia Comillas, where he teaches courses in Machine Learning, Statistics and Quantitative Models. He supervises researchers interested in the intersection between AI, ethics and society, with the aim of generating AI agents and policies that contribute to a more just and equal society.
