Biography:
Alvaro Ortega graduated from The Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering, University of Castilla - La Mancha (Spain) in 2013 with the Electrical and Electronic Itinerary, and graduated with honors in his Final Project. He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from University College Dublin (Ireland) in 2017, with the thesis entitled "Dynamic Modeling, Control and Stability Analysis of VSC-based Energy Storage Systems". Alvaro Ortega Manjavacas is, since September 2020, Senior Power Systems Researcher IIT - Comillas Pontifical University, and previously was with LOYOLATech at University Loyola Andalucia (Jan. - Sept. 2020) and with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in University College Dublin (Sept. 2013 - Dec. 2019). His current fields of research include modeling, control and stability of energy storage systems connected to transmission and distribution systems; and frequency estimation, control and stability in low-inertia systems.
