Biography:

Miguel Ángel Rios-Ocampo (Pereira, Colombia) is a B.Sc and M.Sc in Electrical Engineering from the Technological University of Pereira (UTP), where he worked as a professor and researcher in the areas of power generation systems, power distribution systems, and power system operation. In addition, he worked as a researcher in projects linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation on issues associated with mathematical optimization, operation, and control of microgrids with high penetration of renewable energy generation systems, for which he has participated as an author of studies for international journals and conferences. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in electrical energy, a research assistant at the Comillas Pontifical University – IIT in modeling energy systems for a sustainable energy transition, and a member of the Energy and Poverty chair. His areas of interest focus on the mathematical optimization, planning, operation, and control of power systems, including microgrids and active distribution networks, with approaches towards a sustainable energy transition, sustainable energy policies, and their relationship with society.
