Biography:
Timo Gerres was born in Hamm (DE) in 1989. After obtaining his B.Sc. in Business Administration and Engineering at the Universität Paderborn (DE) in 2011, he gained first insights into the energy sector while working as a business analyst for the EuroDev Group (NL). He received his M.Sc. in Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management from TU Delft (NL) in 2014. After working for 2.5 years as a project manager for the transmission system operator TenneT in Germany, he joined the Instituto de Investigación Tecnológica of Universidad Pontificia Comillas as a Research Assistant. In January 2022, he defended his PhD thesis, titled “Understanding the implications of industrial decarbonisation: a multidisciplinary approach towards the transition of the basic materials industry and its impact on our energy systems.” As a member of the Chair for Low Carbon Hydrogen Studies, his ongoing research and consultancy projects focus on the technical, economic and regulatory dimensions of the transition and especially its role in the decarbonisation of the emission-intensive basic materials sector.
