The Covid-19 pandemic and the measures implemented by the Government to tackle it had a significant impact on the Spanish electricity sector. This research project analyses this impact in two specific areas: i) the exacerbation of energy poverty issues and the policies that have been introduced to avoid it, and ii) the fulfilment of decarbonisation objectives for the power sector, which could be affected by the economic crisis caused by the pandemic. The goal of this research project is to advance recommendations for the Spanish context, based also on a review of the regulatory responses in other jurisdictions in similar conditions.
