26th International Conference and Exhibition on Electricity Distribution - CIRED 2021, Geneva (Switzerland) Online. 20-23 September 2021

Summary:

METIS II is a research and development project funded by the European Commission for enhancing the electrical power system modelling capabilities of the METIS platform, a techno-economic simulation tool for electricity, gas and heat in Europe. On top of the available electricity market optimisation module, a detailed model of the transmission and distribution grids of the EU-27+UK+6 (34) countries is provided. This enhances the platform's capability to assess at each network, at country and at entire European level, the impact of the integration of distributed renewable generation and flexibility measures from a technical perspective, in the framework of the European electricity market.

Keywords: Power distribution; power system planning; synthetic networks; test systems.
