La ponencia presenta los resultados de una parte de la investigación realizada para el proyecto europeo Horizon 2020 RAYUELA sobre cibercrimen y menores. En concreto, los hallazgos sobre el online grooming analizados desde una perspectiva de género. La metodología incluye el análisis de 51 sentencias europeas y de 14 entrevistas con agresores y 8 con víctimas de abuso sexual online. Los resultados muestran que, aunque la mayoría de las víctimas de online grooming son femeninas, los agresores tienen más éxito con los varones. Las víctimas masculinas son más propensas a comenzar el contacto online y aceptar el contacto físico. Las estrategias empleadas por los agresores varían en función del género de la víctima, siendo el engaño, la coacción y la violencia más empleadas en mujeres y la corrupción con hombres. Se discute cómo los resultados muestran la necesidad de incluir la perspectiva de género en el abordaje y la prevención del fenómeno.

English summary:

The paper presents the results of part of the research carried out for the European Horizon 2020 project RAYUELA on cybercrime and minors. Specifically, the findings on online grooming analysed from a gender perspective. The methodology includes the analysis of 51 European judgments and 14 interviews with perpetrators and 8 interviews with victims of online sexual abuse. The results show that, although the majority of online grooming victims are female, offenders are more successful with males. Male victims are more likely to initiate online contact and accept physical contact. The strategies employed by offenders vary according to the gender of the victim, with deception, coercion and violence being more common with females and corruption with males. It is discussed how the results show the need to include a gender perspective in the approach and prevention of the phenomenon.
