Modelling turbulent air flow over topographic features is of great interest because many practical applications rely on the knowledge of mean flow and turbulence. In order to calculate the effects of topography on the wind at a given place, we designed a computational code based on the finite element method and the method of characteristics. This code will be able to predict velocity profiles in those places where future wind turbines will be situated later.
