Design, development and testing of the new generation of digital protection using DSPs ilable

September 2000 - July 2001

Funding entity TEAM-ARTECHE

The main objective of this cooperation with TEAM-ARTECHE is to design, develop and test the new generation of digital protection using DSPs as the physical support of the protection functions, which demand high levels of computational resources. Conventional 16 bit microprocessors are also used to support binary inputs and outputs and additional protection functions. As a result of this cooperation two types of protection have been obtained: a transformer differential, and a HV line distance protection. The latter is currently being tested in the laboratory using a Digital Power System Simulator.
